Find Eagle County Civil Dockets

Start your search by figuring out which court level and case class your Eagle County matter falls under. The Eagle County civil court docket covers noncriminal disputes: small claims, domestic relations, probate, and general civil files. From there, use the state hearing calendar or an approved register service to pull the level of detail you need. A docket entry tells you when and where a hearing happens. For the complaint, a motion, a judgment, or a certified copy, though, the clerk's case file is the real source. Access rules also shift depending on case type and document.

Eagle County Civil Case Classes

Class letters split the Eagle County civil docket into separate streams. CV marks District civil cases. C covers County civil, and S covers small claims. Domestic relations carries DR, probate carries PR, and CW flags a water matter. Read a number like 2026-CV-123 as filing year, then class, then sequence.

CV
General District Court civil matter.
C
County Court limited civil matter.
S
County Court small-claims matter.
DR or PR
Domestic-relations or probate stream, with distinct access limits.
CW
Water case assigned within Colorado's specialized water-court system.

The class points you to the right place to look. It tells you nothing about what the court decided. It also spares you a common dead end: confine the search to County Court, and a CV case will never surface. Eagle Combined Courts keeps both court streams. Water Division 5 handles designated Colorado River basin water matters through the Judicial Branch.

Civil Dockets: What They Show

A free Eagle County civil calendar entry lists date, time, duration, a party-name field, case number, hearing type, location, appearance type, and courtroom. A paid register can add more. It may include filing dates, case status, parties and roles, entered motions, orders, judgments, and scheduled events where public. Still, neither one is the clerk's complete case file.

Context matters when you read a result. A “Return Date on Summons” is a response or appearance date, not necessarily trial. A Status Conference exists to manage the case. A Motion for New Trial Hearing names a request before the court. It is not the ruling itself. Confirm legal effect by obtaining the signed order or judgment.

Case numberYear, class, and sequence, such as 2026-CV-123.
PartiesPlaintiff and defendant, or petitioner and respondent.
FilingsA dated list in a register; filed PDFs must come from the clerk.
SettingsDate, time, type, location, mode, and courtroom.
JudgmentAn entered event supported by the official signed record.

Eagle County Civil Court Levels

The Fifth Judicial District Court holds general civil jurisdiction. It takes the larger or more complex civil matters. Domestic relations, probate, juvenile, and other statutory categories land there too. Colorado County Court handles the smaller side: limited civil and small-claims cases. Both courts sit within Eagle Combined Courts, so the Clerk of Court maintains both sets of files even though the court level and class differ.

A federal civil suit does not belong here at all. It goes to the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado and is searched through PACER. A municipal appeal can create a District Court record, but the town clerk keeps the original municipal file.

What Cases Fill the Civil Docket

Several record streams fill the Eagle County civil dockets. District Court jurisdiction covers general civil cases involving contracts, tort claims, property, or other disputes. County Court holds lower-value civil matters along with small claims. Domestic relations and probate each carry their own class labels. Water cases run on a specialized system. Eagle County sits in the Colorado River basin area served by Water Division 5.

  • District civil cases in class CV
  • County civil cases in class C
  • Small claims in class S
  • Domestic relations in class DR
  • Probate in class PR
  • Water matters in class CW

These labels also shape public access. Domestic, juvenile, probate, and protection-order records can hold restricted material even when a public setting appears. Never read a withheld document's contents into what a search result shows.

Eagle County Civil Return Dates

Few Eagle County civil docket labels get misread as often as Return Date on Summons. It simply tells a party when a response or appearance is due under the summons. Witnesses will not necessarily testify that day. A trial will not necessarily happen. Later, the docket may show a status conference, motion hearing, trial setting, or another case-management event.

Read the event, then the order. A calendar label identifies the scheduled step. The signed order, judgment, or scheduling document controls what the court directed.

Seeing both an earlier and a later setting? Check the latest register event, then confirm with the clerk. A continuance postpones an event; a reset places the replacement setting on the calendar. Old events can linger in the history. The full Eagle County court schedule explains how to verify the current date. It also covers the appearance mode.

Hearings on the Civil Docket

A civil hearing in Eagle County can take many shapes. It might be a motion or a status conference. It could be a guardianship matter, a protection order, a trial setting, or the merits of the claim itself. Docket search results show entries like Status Conference and Hearing on Guardianship. You may also see Return Date on Summons, Permanent Restraining Order Hearing, Setting, and Motion for New Trial Hearing. Each entry also lists a duration. Treat that figure as a scheduling estimate. It is never a promise of when the matter will wrap up.

Check the Appearance Type field to see whether you appear in person or by video. Location and courtroom still tell you which court is handling the hearing. For a virtual setting, match it against the Fifth Judicial District's current Webex page. Never reuse an old meeting link. If a filed notice conflicts with the date, courtroom, or mode, call Eagle Combined Courts at 970-328-6373. Represented parties should also loop in their lawyer.

Eagle County Civil Judgment Requests

What if the docket lists a filing but offers no PDF? The statewide Record and Document Request form is the practical fallback for an Eagle County civil docket. Fill in the county and location first. Add the case number, class, filing year, parties, and the exact document you want. Civil options include Order for Judgment, Transcript of Judgment, Satisfaction of Judgment, and Protection Order. Family and probate choices cover decrees and parenting plans. They also cover support orders, wills, letters, petitions, and similar records.

Timing varies a bit. The web form says the court responds within three business days unless circumstances interfere. An official PDF says allow three to five business days. A reply might only give the price, a retrieval status, or an access condition. Older files may sit off site. You can also walk up to the Justice Center counter at 885 Chambers Avenue, or mail a request to P.O. Box 597, Eagle, CO 81631. The clerk line is 970-328-6373. Call ahead before counting on a courthouse terminal, since no official source promises one is available.

Who Can See Civil Dockets

Two authorities govern who may see Eagle County civil court records: CJD 05-01 and Colorado Rules of Court Chapter 38. Public records are open at reasonable times. Access is subject to the rules and to the clerk's reasonable procedures. Remote access is narrower than what you may get at the courthouse itself. Even when basic case data is public, the court can withhold contact information and free-text fields. Protected persons' details and some financial or confidential material may also be withheld.

Some files carry extra limits. Domestic, juvenile, probate, mental-health, adoption, and protection-order cases all may. Depending on the file, a requester might need identification or proof of party status. Some cases call for written authority or a court order. The Clerk of Court makes the call under the governing rules. Note that an Eagle County administrative CORA request is no substitute for a Judicial Branch case-file request.

Official sources: The Judicial Branch Access Guide explains court-record routes. CJD 05-01 sets the court-record access policy.

Older Eagle County Civil Dockets

An older Eagle County civil docket may sit outside the free calendar's date window. It may simply have no hearing coming up. Search both the Justice Center and El Jebel. Confirm the court type, and check each segment of the case number. A name that returns nothing? Try the business-party option where that fits. A blank calendar hit does not mean the civil case or its file is gone.

Calling the clerk works well for older matters. Use the official Eagle Combined Courts page to find the number. Then have the approximate filing year, party names, class, and document title ready. Ask whether the file is stored off site and what retrieval charge might apply. A designated vendor can supply a public register chronology, but copies come from the clerk. Skip the Eagle County Clerk and Recorder's Acclaim portal for this task. Acclaim indexes recorded land and official instruments, not court pleadings or civil case events.
